No-one could accuse me of being a fan of Lightroom Desktop, the cloudy brood parasite of the Lightroom family, but I saw a post criticising its new Prompt to Edit “technology preview” feature which I do like.

It’s not because I want it to improve my photographs, it’s because I want it to do something very different with them, transforming them so they resemble other artistic forms. After all, no-one cavils at the idea of making a colour photograph black and white and giving it a grainy “1980s photojournalistic” look or adding sepia tone and vignetting, so why not try asking Prompt to Edit to generate looks that would take years of Photoshop experience to simulate?

The video shows before / after with a range of prompts from Henri Rousseau to the Bayuex Tapestry. And if you want to do this in real Lightroom, File > Generate with Firefly.
